What did you do to your mk7 today?

Did a few things today.

I installed the K&N high flow air filter and removed the snow guard. The snow guard wasnt easy to take out. I kinda broke it lol.

Also, I washed the car ontop of trying out some metal polish for my CSS muffler tips. I usually was using degreaser and soap/water to clean my tips. At one point I was upset carbon was building up on my tips but wasnt coming off. I though I ruined the chrome finished. So I ended up buying “White Diamond metal polish” and used it on the tips and WOW. My tips are looking brand new like if the muffler was just installed. I honestly thought the carbon build up damaged the chrome finish but it didnt. Luckily, that white diamond metal polish easily removed all the carbon and marks off the tips making it look brand new! Super happy and definitely recommend buying.

My first car was a 1979 Trans Am. Black and gold like Smokey and The Bandit. It looked and sounded awesome, but wasn't as fast as it looked. I loved it though.

Ah, 1979, the middle of the "smog era". Imagine your monster V8 in your awesome Trans Am putting out this kind of hp, while getting HORRENDOUS gas mileage...

The net result of the effort was a rating of 220 hp at 4,000 rpm and 320 lb/ft of torque at 2,800 rpm. Backing every T/A 6.6 engine throughout the '79 model year was an 11-inch clutch disc and pressure-plate assembly, and a Borg-Warner Super T10 four-speed manual transmission with a first-gear ratio of 2.43:1.

Haha. Yeah I think I got about 12 mpg. It was a lot cheaper 20 or so years ago.

Threw on some ECS spacers to see how good we could make the stock wheels look.

I inherited these from a friend. I'm not sure if they were from his S3 or his brothers A4 but they are 10mm in the front and 17.5mm in the rear. Not quite the same as the GTI flush kit but pretty close. They look a lot better. Definitely need to get it lowered now.

Got the car aligned with the ball joint extenders, and had him add some more rear negative camber.

at ride height it’s now at -3.40 rears and -5 fronts.
*picture was taken with air pressure raised in the front, so this is the rears ride height but the front is about 3/4” high.

Powerflex diesel dogbone insert. Same design, but 5D softer than their street part for the TSI. Zero detectable NVH and much smoother DSG shifts and far less engine rocking on WOT let off. Without a doubt, best $50 I’ve spent on the R.

Track day at Laguna Seca yesterday. Managed a 1'50.352" which is only 2/10ths of Randy Pobst's time in a stock GTI. Obviously my car has a host of suspension/brake upgrades but stock power for now, so I'm pretty happy with that time. Sub 1'50 next time is the goal.

Installed B8’s in the rear (front at a later date) as well as the subframe harmonic damper. I get loud clunking from both sides when I go over a manhole/pothole/crack. I don’t think I tightened the top nut enough; watched ShopDAP’s video and they just hit it with a impact (which I don’t have). Bought a set of PowerTorque pass through sockets.

Do you have bumpstops? I have the same problem. I dont have bumpstops on mine and I get noise when going over good bumps. I also got an issue with the sway bar bushing making noise when taking a ramp at an angle at times or hit a turn hard. Sometimes the B8s make noise in the rear and it gets me worried sometimes that I need to install some bumpstops. I dont wanna damage the rear shocks.

Ya I reused the bump stops. I’ve been running on EMD springs with stock shocks for a while and have not had any issues/noises. I will tighten the top shock nut hopefully today or tomorrow and hopefully this will resolve it. I’m guessing that the shock hits the body on rebound because the nut is not compressed a little.
I also put in EMD spring pads and the instructions say it goes in between the body and stock rubber pad. Shouldn’t cause noise.... ?

Thats funny. My mechanic said the stock bump stops didnt fit on the b8s for the rear. So he didnt put them
