New studs for the manifold. These are M8X1.25 50mm. Fit is good and have enough to hang the heavy manifold on for removal/install should I ever need to do this job with the engine in the car.

Manifold was Cerakoted carbon silver. Just waiting on some v-band clamps and a Tial 44mm MVR wastegate before mocking the rest up.

Absolutely bonkers from a technical, visual, and mechanical perspective!!!

You're never gonna see anything this cool on a Tesla forum:sneaky:

I saw in another thread that the rubber vibration dampers on the back of the front calipers are not needed and can be removed. Do you agree?

Made a little more progress.

Got the turbo mounted up and clocked, put together the wastegate and made plans for the oil feed and drain. The 07k engine has a perfect access port for oil feed on the side of the head. I'll run -4AN feed line from there to oil feed flange. I'll have to drill and tap the upper oil pan for the a -10AN drain. Hopefully the feed/drain flanges arrive soon and I can get that knocked out and the engine back in the car.

I forgot to post the installation pictures for the prop shaft.

Left: Mocked up on jack stands and connect to rear diff for positional purposes. Right: Welded in and color matched to factory spec.

Left: My poor welder making it happen on his back and above his head. Right: New heat shields in place and all bolted in!

RS4 vs Golf R fuel pump. Let's combine the two!

Installed the RS4 pump today in the wagen. The process involved the following (have some cell phone video of walk-through if anyone is interested).
  1. Removed both top hats (RS4 is 4 prong connection and shaped differently). Golf platform is 5 prong (this is due to the level sensor being 3 wires vs RS4 2).
  2. Move top hat and fuel level sensor from Golf R over to RS4 basket and pump.
  3. Trimmed the power wires from the RS4 pump and soldered to the Golf R top hat connector.
  4. Modified the basket housing to accept the fuel vent pipe when compressed (Dremel and bored out hole)
  5. Connect fuel feed line to Golf R top hat.
  6. Tested using a spare car battery.
  7. Installed into saddle tank.

Re-assembly is slowly happening. Because the entire car was taken apart, it gave me the opportunity to inspect and either replace/upgrade each component. This morning I tackled buttoning up the front subframe. This included:
  • 034 Motorpost billet dogbone mount
  • 034 Motorsport upper and lower inserts
  • TyrolSport deadset kit with ARP bolts
  • SuperPro alloy control arms
  • New OE ball joints
Special thanks to forum user and UroTuning dude KollinWithaK for getting all of this shipped to me in 1 day, so I had them for the weekend.

Man, those SuperPro LCAs look so good. Sometimes I wish I took the time to clean up my Passat arms like that.

Created my first DIY. I also added it to the DIY section of the forums. Hopefully it helps someone in the future.

I hope to do some more of these soon.

great work! This would have made my install a lot easier! The install was actually fun but the sheer amount of parts that had to be removed was scary. It’s really a great oem mod. Updates the look of the interior greatly.

Transmission is ready to go, minus the Sachs metal TOB I'm still awaiting to arrive from overseas.

  • New 02Q NFQ awd transmission
  • Steel shift forks
  • Brass sliders
  • European metal shift cable bracket with billet bushings
  • Case blasted and coated with AlumaBlast
Ready to mate it to the engine and get this sucker back in the car!
