Wait, VW508 is green?

I'd start pouring it into my engine and be like "I think this oil went bad..."

What is your issue? Group 3 hydrocrack isn't syn enough for you? Approval is approval.
I’m looking for something I can run in between track days that can get me better gas mileage through out it’s interval. That’s it.

Then any of the 508 oils will do that - my point was don't get hung up on base-stock, it's about approval and the total oil package (base + additives) is what matters and what the approval takes into account.

does the 508 oil stay green?

curiosity only.

and all oil is synthetic because dinosaurs never existed (see Bible for proof)
likely like the Liquimoly Molygen - color gone after a bit.

Jimmy, me boyo, remember my post about the maple syrup Paulaner blend that I recommended for use in the VW - just like amSOIL recommends their swill for 508 engines.
I only said that it's says it's 508 compliant.

So, just to stir the pot... Seeing as 5k is a popular change interval with most tuned owners - Does a modern properly spec'd oil come close to the end of it's useful life in that time?
