My car is still in the workshop, 3 weeks now. They are waiting for a part. They carried out the insulating mat Recall and have done the 1896 software update so i was told.

So the infotainment system seems more responsive, so far no errors to report.
Also the sound has changed coming from speakers for the parking sensors.
I checked and the option is not visible in the parking sensors settings.Massimo have you noticed with 1896 whether the blind spot warning lights in the mirror flash when opening the door while stationary when a car is about to come past
Have a read of these. Seems there are two possible fixes; replacing the keyless controller in the driver’s door if it’s faulty or a software upgrade.Thanks for all that information
Hope these are my final questions
In my case, apart from previous problems that have not occured in months (IS rebooting itself, heating controls locking up and Media / Radio not fully loading) the one that still persists is the central unlocking only working when approached from the rear. If VW don't offer it, do you think I have a case to get the software update?
Is the above 1896 the same as the much publicised hardware / software update announced recently by VW?
Separately, again in my case and for many other the driving errors - parking sensors etc that are still appearing - will these ever be corrected or do I / we have to put up with them forever! (have the car 16 months at this stage)
