The US imports are not the same. The Transport Ministry minimum standards for safety, emmissions, and fuel consumption are higher on average for what is supposed to be the same model in most cases. What the Canadian car mags report in their puplications often comes from material published by VW America in Auburn Hills, MI.
Also physically the car dimensions are different. The height for one thing.
