What did you do to your mk8 today.

Seems to be a tradition with previous models, so here we go.

Billetworkz shift knob.

It looks quite retro, and I like the retro look 😎.

Does the top of the leather gaiter need tucking in a bit more under the bottom of the shift knob? It might just be the picture, but it looks as if the ‘raw’ edge of the gaiter is showing on the right of the picture.

The mk8 boot is glued to the stock shift knob. You have to use a razor blade to separate the boot and knob.

I bought the Billetworkz with the extra boot retaining ring and glued the boot to the boot retainer ring, but in this pic, I hadn't glued it yet, which is why you see a bit of a gap.

Come on, mk8 bros, you have to be doing stuff, it's been out for 2 years. Get to posting. It's dead up in here.

Took a pic and ordered 235 35 19 Bridgestone RE71RS's.

Had Cobb AP converted from mk7 to mk8.

Took my time and got my suspension installed and tried to at least get a decent toe setting before driving to a local shop for an alignment.

I’ve still got quite a bit of room to move the camber plates and I’m running the stock ball joints instead of the 034 for now. I did some measuring and confirmed what Tony from Data Driven MQB had already told me. Bump steer would probably be an issue if I didn’t run an OEM style ball joint on the 034 LCA’s.

I will say that I’ll definitely never cut another strut tower with a hole saw again. That was a nerve wracking mess and cooling the bit with oil just made it even worse to clean up. I’ll be buying a knockout punch if I do this to any other cars. It turned out fine, but I probably spent three hours cleaning carefully so I didn’t scratch any surfaces.

The Tenhulzen alignment works pretty well and was within a couple tenths on every measurement that the Hunter rack showed.

I’ll probably slide the camber plates all the way in for my track day at the end of the month, after I confirm that the toe isn’t too far out after adding an extra degree of camber.

I really wanted to run my RT660’s today, but they are too wide to fit until I get some spacers delivered to clear the fuel filler hose. That’s why I left the camber at 1.3° in the rear.

Ordered new wheels for my street tires since I’m going to be putting my track tires back on.

I guess I’m gonna do that black-wheels-on-a-white-car thing 😤. Couldn't find any bronze or gray wheels I liked in the right size and budget. Track tires will go back on the bronze wheels.

So now I need black mirror caps and a black spoiler right? That’s the formula? 😂
