it was a fantastic car for a kid in his early 20's. if you can get past the fact that it lacks the confinement of german cars (rattly interior with shitty finishes, most notably).

Supercharged cars were an easy ~280whp on a ~$500 stage 2 setup. Low 300's on a bigger blower. I touched 380whp with abig blower, cams, ported head, e85. Fucking blast; sounds amazing, weighs like 2900lbs.

A buddy of mine is running a 2.4 Cobalt with aftermarket supercharger setup, it's definitely a fun car to drive. I think all of your points are pretty dead-on, if I were to use that as the yardstick.

yeah cobalt was a fun time. really not much ever broke on me either and i molested the fuck out of that thing.

oh also, the real easy way to make power - turbo swap it, you can get 450 on stock internals, maybe pistons. some pushed 600whp.
