DIY Footwell lights retrofit - questions

Hello guys,

I am planning to retrofit footwell lights in my MK7.
I found this kit:

1. Would this work for MK7 in spite there is remark about Golf5/6? Are the wires and housing the same?
2. Is this kit sufficient for retrofitting?

I seriously doubt the wiring is the same. Check out Kufatec who sell the proper kits.

That kit is very expensive. LED footwell lights are €8 each from the dealer. Make your own loom

Yup as are most things that you want to retrofit to a Golf at Kufatec. I guess if you've got the skills/time to make a loom then all good.

Carsystems.pl also do a kit for 50 Euros.

Just bought kit from carsystems.pl - it's my local country supplier thus i got IT in less than 24hours.

Kit looks really OEM - leds are genuine, connectors as well. I'll post some pictures soon.

Unfortunetely they didnt provide any guide... So i have to find some info in internet.

I have read it. The point is I don't have footwell installation at all! Your GTI has front footweel and it's already coded.
There is more thing to do in my case ...

Well, I have managed to find proper light sockets and ground connectors in the car.
Dissasembled whole plastic covers underneath steering wheel but unofrtunetely didn't found BCM.
Could anoyone guide me how to locate the correct plug? Any photos, guide etc.. ?

Managed to take photo. There are visible plugs near the OBD plug. Still don't know how to release them?

Job is done! Effect is fantastic. Moreover, I have got option in my Infotainment system saying how intenstive light do i want.

It turned out, that coding was a little bit different, but finally it worked!!
Ambient foot lighting is very nice especially on very dark road.

Are there good "idiot proof" instructions available for this procedure? It looks like one of the things that I could do, but don't want to screw anythign up.
